This week, with the help of an adult, your challenge is to create your own camouflage, for either yourself or a toy of your choice, to blend into your surroundings.

1. what you will need:

If you or your toy wish to blend into trees or plants in your backyard, try dressing in green and brown shades, and adding fallen leaves or sticks to your outfit. If you’re completing the challenge indoors, select colours from the walls or furniture. You can use anything that will make you difficult to see at first glance!

2. what we're looking for:

You can create a camouflage effect with natural materials or household items. It just depends on the habitat you’re trying to blend in to. The harder it is to see you, the better!

did you know?

Did you know why tigers have stripes? The answer: camouflage! That’s right, the vertical stripes in their fur are what experts call ‘disruptive colouration.’ They help break up the cat’s shape and size in the eyes of its prey, so they blend in with the trees and tall grasses. This is important for tigers and other predators, who rely on strength and camouflage to catch their food.

3. how to complete the challenge:

Take a before and after photo to show the transformation you have made, and how you’re blending into your environment.

Simply email everything* to youngvetsclub@wvs.org.uk!

*Please note: In line with our child safeguarding policy, we will not publish any photo that includes a child’s face in the image without permission from the parent or guardian. If you would like to give permission, please download the consent form below, fill it in, and attach it to your email to us.
